AUSTIN, Texas — Texas has a record 19 million registered voters heading into the Nov. 3 midterm elections, according to the Texas secretary of state.
Interest in the election appears high. Vote.org says Texans have checked their registration through its site more than 500,000 times this year, 72% more often than at this point in 2018 and more than twice as often as in 2022.
Brian Smith, a political science professor at St. Edward’s University, said the outcome will come down to which side does a better job turning supporters and independents into voters.
Early voting continues through Oct. 30.
