One person is dead after a police standoff lasted more than 5 hours in southern Dallas Thursday. The Interstate 45 and Interstate 20 interchange, and I-20 East are closed.

At least a dozen police and emergency service vehicles could be seen on site. Dallas police said they responded to the scene at 9:40 a.m., and all lanes of the bridge have been closed since 10 a.m., according to Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras. The interstate running beneath the bridge, I-20 East, is also closed. Traffic is backed up for miles on both I-45 and I-20 near Hutchins.

Since arriving onsite, police could be seen on the traffic cameras talking to a man standing near the side of the bridge next to a silver-colored sedan. Cameras showed police attempting to speak with the individual.
