LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Wednesday’s temperatures climbed into the low 80s, reaching approximately 82° in Lubbock.
This narrowly avoided tying the record high for the date, set in 1995 at 85°. A cold front moved through the area on Wednesday afternoon but provided little relief, as temperatures remained well above the typical average of 66° for this time of year.

Thursday afternoon will bring a significant warm-up, with high temperatures anticipated to reach the mid-80s under abundant sunshine. Forecasters indicate a strong possibility of tying or breaking the current record high for Thursday, which is 82 degrees, established in 1973.

The potential for record-tying or record-breaking high temperatures is expected to continue into Friday.
