HOUSTON – In its final in-state matchup of the regular season, the TCU women’s soccer team was defeated by Houston, 2-0, on Thursday at Carl Lewis International Complex.
The Horned Frogs (5-8-1, 2-6 Big 12) were able to create a handful of chances today, getting off nine shots, but were unable to put across any goals as Houston’s two scores were the difference in tonight’s match.
THE RUNDOWN
The opening run of action saw back-and-forth swings with both teams trying to settle in and get a feel for the match. TCU was able to produce a few threatening build ups in the run of play, including a chance to Giovanna Costanzo in the 16th minute that went over the goal.
In the 20th minute, Houston would open the scoring and take a 1-0 lead. The Cougars would face three shots from the Frog attack from Emma Yolinsky, Cameron Patton and Kamdyn Fuller the remainder of the half, but no change in the ledger would come.
The second half saw a six-save performance from Olivia Geller as she faced eight Houston shots out of their 11 total on the night during the second 45 minutes of play. The Frogs were unable to maintain any sort of rhythm, and Houston’s goal in the 65th minute sealed the match’s result for a 2-0 Cougar victory.
