Drivers hitting the road this weekend might want to start planning their alternate routes if their plans involve heading to the city’s southwest side.
Here’s what drivers need to know:
The eastbound frontage road at Kirby Drive will be completely closed from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, to 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
Drivers will need to make a U-turn at Kirby Drive, continue westbound on the frontage road to Buffalo Speedway and U-turn again before continuing eastbound toward the Buffalo Speedway entrance ramp.
The eastbound frontage road between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby Drive will be closed during the same period, from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.
Drivers should use the Buffalo Speedway U-turn, continue westbound on the frontage road to Stella Link Road and U-turn before continuing eastbound.
The northbound connector ramp from the 610 South Loop to I-45 Gulf will close nightly from 9 p.m. to noon, Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Oct. 25.
Drivers will be directed to take the I-45 southbound exit, make a U-turn at Broadway Boulevard/Park Place Boulevard and continue onto I-45 northbound.
This is the big one if you’re traveling through the area over the entire weekend.
The westbound 610 South Loop will be completely closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, between Broadway Street and Telephone Road.
Drivers should exit at Broadway Street, continue along the frontage road and use the next entrance ramp to get back onto the freeway.
TranStar also warns that all closures are tentative and could change because of weather, emergency work or other events.
