Austin, TX — Formula 1 is underway at Circuit of the Americas, and this year’s United States Grand Prix is getting a high-fashion touch.

French luxury brand Louis Vuitton has unveiled a custom-made trophy trunk designed specifically for the 2026 Formula 1 MSC Cruises United States Grand Prix in Austin.

The handcrafted trunk will be used to showcase the winner’s trophy, bringing together the worlds of luxury fashion and motorsports.

A custom design for Austin

The trunk features Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram canvas, accented with red and blue stripes inspired by the energy of Formula 1 racing.

Checkered patterns resembling a racing finish line form a large V, representing both “Victory” and “Vuitton.”

This season, Louis Vuitton also introduced a new feature called the “Victory patch,” inspired by vintage travel labels.

The patch is engraved with the winning driver’s initials, creating a personalized tribute to each Grand Prix champion.

Handmade in France, with a history dating back to 1897

Here’s something you might not know: Louis Vuitton’s connection to automobiles goes back more than a century.

The Austin trophy trunk was handcrafted at the company’s historic workshop in Asnières-sur-Seine, France.

That same workshop produced some of the company’s first automotive trunks in 1897, under Georges Vuitton, the son of founder Louis Vuitton.

As automobiles became more popular, Georges developed a durable canvas material called “Vuittonite” to replace leather, helping luggage withstand the elements during early road trips.

That innovation eventually evolved into the iconic Louis Vuitton canvas recognized around the world today.

From the World Cup to Formula 1

Louis Vuitton has a long history of designing custom trunks for major sporting events.

The company’s partnerships have included the FIFA World Cup, NBA, Olympic and Paralympic Games, Australian Open and America’s Cup.

Louis Vuitton became an official Formula 1 partner in 2025, continuing its tradition of creating custom cases to transport and showcase championship trophies.

Formula 1 brings international attention to Austin

The 2026 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is underway at Circuit of the Americas, with four days of festivities surrounding the race weekend.

The event runs through Sunday, October 25, bringing racing fans, international visitors and major brands to Central Texas.

And while the drivers compete for a spot on the podium, the winning trophy will have its own custom-designed home, courtesy of Louis Vuitton.
