H-E-B is warning customers about air fryer ovens it previously sold in its stores and at its other grocery store format, Joe V’s Smart Shop, that could cause burns.

“CPSC’s investigation revealed that the doors can suddenly close on consumers’ arms while the oven is on, causing burns,” the safety warning reads.

While the CPSC has received dozens of burn reports, with at least one involving scarring consistent with second-degree burns, no H-E-B customers have reported injuries, according to the company.

The Kalorik MAXX Air Fryer Ovens with French Doors were also sold at Walmart, Home Depot and Amazon.

The CPSC issued a safety warning because the original importers went out of business, and the company that currently owns the brand declined to participate in a recall. The air fryers were sold between 2020 and 2025.

Anyone who has these products is advised to dispose of them according to local hazardous-waste procedures. Find exact product details of the affected items and where to report injuries to the CPSC here.
