Bar Peached is planning to reopen in a new location after a fire damaged the restaurant’s structure this summer. The restaurant will relaunch just steps away from its original location.

How we got here

Bar Peached caught fire at its original location at 1315 W. Sixth St., Austin on May 31. Malfunctioning kitchen equipment caused the fire, destroying the building’s roof. Bar Peached has been closed ever since.

What we know

Bar Peached will soon take over the space formerly occupied by Nightcap, another local restaurant, also located on W. Sixth Street. Nightcap closed on Oct. 22, according to a news release. The Bar Peached team will begin renovating the space next month.

“I don’t see this as Nightcap closing, but more so as one chapter ending to make room for the next,” Christin Rowan, owner of Nightcap, shared in the news release.

What’s new

Upon the relaunch, Bar Peached will evolve into a new concept: a vinyl bar serving craft cocktails and Asian-American tapas. The restaurant previously offered a selection of tacos, Asian-inspired comfort food and cocktail options.

“The fire was devastating for us, but it also gave us the unique opportunity to rethink what Bar Peached could be,” Eric Silverstein, founder of Bar Peached, said in a statement. “We’re taking the heart of what made Bar Peached special and giving it a new home, a new energy and a new direction.”
