San Antonio ranks highly in a lot of things, like schools and population growth, and we take pride in being recognized. But this time? It’s a little different.
A new list places San Antonio near the top for U.S. cities’ estimated total spending and spending per household on OnlyFans. While adult content and pornography aren’t the only posts on the platform, they’re such a vast majority that the website is notorious for the NSFW. Subscribers pay monthly, tip or access content by pay-per-view. They can even message creators directly.
San Antonio is near the top of the spending pack. According to the OnlyFansFinders ranking, the Alamo City came in at No. 11 out of 210 U.S. cities for annual per-household spending on the platform, coughing up an average of $35 every year. That totals an estimated $38 million across the area in 2025, placing it at No. 21 overall on the list. Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth scored even higher, with the DFW metroplex (No. 4 overall) spending an estimated $84 million in 2025 and Space City (No. 6 overall) dishing out $78 million last year.
The ranking is based on OnlyFans’ reported 2025 fan payments and the share of site traffic from the U.S., as well each area’s Google search interest in OnlyFans and household counts from Nielsen, which measures TV and media markets. A spokesperson for the ranking website said it’s just an estimate, not payment data.
The platform launched about 10 years ago as a response to those like Patreon, where fans of YouTubers, podcasters, artists, gamers and more pay creators directly for exclusive content such as early releases, behind the scenes and specials. OnlyFans started on a similar principle before lifting a ban on explicit content a year after its founding, according to Reuters. The company says it has paid out more than $30 billion to creators since 2016, Variety magazine writes.
Seven of the top 10 metros spending the most per household are in the Lone Star State, but the city that beat the rest might be surprising. Midland-Odessa holds the No. 1 spot for spending per household with about $51 a year — that’s 1.9 times the national average of $27, according to OnlyFansFinders. It was followed by Yuma, Arizona, El Centro, California, and the Rio Grande Valley cities of Harlingen, Weslaco, Brownsville and McAllen.
