SAN ANTONIO — Hollywood actress Eva Longoria and friends walked the red carpet on Saturday in celebration of 20 years dedicated to supporting individuals with special needs.

Local non-profit organization Eva’s Heroes celebrated their 20th annual Celebrity Casino Night fundraiser at The Ralston on East Hildebrand Avenue.

The event features casino-style gaming and live auction with proceeds going towards the organization’s mission to empower youth and adults with intellectual special needs.

Longoria said Eva’s Heroes, founded in 2006 with Christiane Perkins-Garcia, was inspired by her mother’s work as a special education teacher and her sister.

“We’re just a big community of of people who want to see kids and adults with intellectual disabilities have a place to go where they can learn and grow and be loved and be seen,” Longoria said.
