WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) — Authorities in Wagoner County say a Texas man has been taken into custody after he allegedly tried to solicit a 14-year-old decoy for sex.

In September, the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Safe from Online Sex Abuse, a nonprofit organization that works to identify individuals who are suspected of online child sexual abuse.

Recently, investigators were notified that a man was contacting a decoy, who was posing as a 14-year-old girl, for sex.

Officials say the suspect began speaking with the decoy for a short time before the conversation turned sexual in nature. The suspect eventually asked to meet up with the decoy, and they agreed to meet at a convenience store in Wagoner County.

Authorities arrested Coleman Rogers, from Fort Wort, on complaints of facilitating sexual conduct with a minor and lewd or indecent proposals to a child.

“Our message is clear: our children deserve to grow up safe, protected, and free from those who would attempt to take advantage of their innocence. We encourage parents to talk openly with their children about online safety, know who they are communicating with, and report anything that raises concern. Keeping children safe isn’t just a law enforcement responsibility, it takes an entire community working together,” said Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott.
