Houston LGBTQ+ organizations came together October 24 for MET Queerla, a voter mobilization event held at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center on West Gray Street.

The event brought a Pride-inspired atmosphere to the polling location, encouraging LGBTQ+ Houstonians to cast their ballots during early voting for the November 3 general election. Organizers rolled out a red carpet, inviting voters to wear colorful outfits and celebrate LGBTQ+ visibility and civic participation.

Among those in attendance were Brad Pritchett, CEO of Equality Texas; Verniss McFarland III, founder of The Mahogany Project; and Mandy Giles, founder of Parents of Trans Youth and a Pride Houston Ally Grand Marshal.

The event was organized by Equality Texas in partnership with The Mahogany Project, The Montrose Center, Stonewall Sports Houston, Human Rights Campaign Houston, the Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus, Star Dust Co. and Parents of Trans Youth.

MET Queerla was part of a broader effort to encourage LGBTQ+ voter turnout across Texas.
