Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale has thrown his support behind Republican nominee Orlando Sanchez for Harris County Judge. The Orlando Sanchez campaign posted an endorsement video on Instagram and Facebook featuring McIngvale and Sanchez calling for voters’ support.
Sanchez, who unsuccessfully ran for city controller in 2023, has campaigned on reducing spending and rising property taxes. That bread-and-butter economic message takes center stage in the endorsement clip, which leans heavily on McIngvale’s local star power.
Thank you, Jim “Mattress Mac” McIngvale, for your strong support and endorsement,” the post’s caption reads. “Your belief in this campaign means the world, not just because of who you are, but because of the values you stand for—hard work, community, and putting people first. Grateful to have you in our corner. Let’s keep fighting for Houston.”
“If you and your family want a safer Harris County, vote for Orlando Sanchez for Harris County Judge,” McIngvale says in the video. “Lower property taxes, less crime, better Houston.”
In 2025, the Houston mattress mogul endorsed Marty Lancon in the republican primary, supporting his bid to unseat longtime Harris County Commissioner Lina Hidalgo. In 2022, McIngvale endorsed and funded Republican Alexandra del Moral Mealer for Harris County Judge.
The race between Sanchez and his opponent, Leitia Plummer, has become increasingly contentious as election day nears. The two candidates have spent months attacking each other’s political records and trading social media barbs. In their Oct. 22 debate, Sanchez ended the tense political exchange by attacking Plummer’s record as a Dental professional.
