EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Democratic State Rep. James Talarico spoke out against data centers and his GOP opponent Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate in a late push to rally supporters.
Talarico compared the last week of early voting to the last drive in a football game, on theme with his “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts,” campaign, borrowed from the “Friday Night Lights” television show.
In a new poll conducted by Texas Public Onion Research, Talarico holds a slight lead over Paxton with 51 percent in support compared to Paxton’s 47 percent. The nonprofit’s poll noted a slight erosion in Talarico’s lead over Paxton compared to one conducted in August.
Paxton, the Republican nominee for the Senate seat and the state’s longtime attorney general, will be in El Paso on Sunday. Paxton is expected to hold his campaign rally at the Orca Event Venue on Rojas Drive as part of his “Come and Take It” bus tour.
Monday’s rally was Talarico’s third visit to El Paso. Paxton’s Sunday rally will mark his second visit to the border city this year.
Early voting ends on Friday, Oct. 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
