SAN ANTONIO – A man is fighting for his life after being shot multiple times following a confrontation late Monday night outside an East Side home.

The shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. at a home off Coleman Street near North Onslow Street and Lamar Street, not far from the Frost Bank Center.

Police said a man in his late 20s or early 30s drove up to a home looking for someone when an argument escalated into a physical fight.

The man eventually returned to his vehicle, where police say he made several threatening moves with his car. Someone then fired multiple shots at the vehicle, striking the man in the stomach and arm.

Despite his injuries, the man attempted to drive away but crashed into a parked vehicle. He continued driving until he reached the area of East Carson and Ash streets.

Police say he got out of his vehicle, walked about two blocks north and called for help.

Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital in critical condition.

Two people at the home where the confrontation began were detained for questioning by detectives.

Investigators are now working to determine whether the shooting was an act of self-defense or if criminal charges will be filed.

The investigation remains ongoing.
