SAN ANTONIO – Thousands of vulnerable children and families across Bexar County and surrounding communities will benefit from a major investment aimed at providing safer, more stable homes.
SJRC Texas | Belong announced that longtime San Antonio philanthropist and businessman Harvey E. Najim has committed $2.5 million to support children in foster care, strengthen families and help keep children connected to their communities.
The funding will be distributed over five years to support the organization’s Community-Based Care program, which focuses on finding stable homes for children while providing resources to families in need.
Earlier this year, SJRC Texas launched the second stage of its Community-Based Care program in Bexar County, expanding services to nearly 2,000 additional children and young people.
The program provides foster care and kinship placements, helps reunite children with their families when possible and offers programs designed to strengthen family relationships.
One of the organization’s primary goals is to keep children close to home, allowing them to remain connected to their schools, neighborhoods, friends and relatives rather than being placed far from their communities.
Najim has been a longtime supporter of children’s organizations throughout South Central Texas, spending more than a decade helping provide resources and services to thousands of children facing difficult circumstances.
SJRC Texas | Belong said the latest investment will help expand its efforts to create safe, loving homes while providing families with the support they need to stay together.
