VAN HORN, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A Saturday evening crash on Interstate 10 west near Van Horn killed a 21-year-old man from El Paso after his car struck a semi-truck that had stopped for construction, authorities said.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Aaron Stephen Pepe was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu when the crash occurred at about 5:57 p.m. near mile marker 181, about 41 miles east of Van Horn.

Investigators believe Pepe “failed to control his speed,” lost control of the car and crashed into the semi-truck, which had stopped because of construction, DPS said.
