Since 1985, El Paso seen Metallica perform a total of 5 times. Each time they were incredible shows & incredible memories were made when they rolled through town.

But which songs were played the most in El Paso? Which songs were only heard only time in El Paso? Well thanks to the help of sites like Setlist.FM & Metallica’s official website, we can have a good idea on which songs were played whenever Metallica came through town.

There is one note I need to make: the setlist for the 1985 show is not on Setlist or Metallica’s website & the 1989 setlist is incomplete for the El Paso show on Setlist. Although looking at the setlists from the Albuquerque show the day after the El Paso show in 1985 & Lubbock Texas show the day before in 1989, we can have a good idea on what the El Paso setlists WOULD’VE looked like.

So, without further ado, let’s tally up the scores.

The songs Metallica performed most in El Paso

“The Ecstasy of Gold” gets its own category since it’s Metallica’s introduction song used during their live sets. The song was composed by Ennio Morricone so it’s not a METALLICA song. THAT being said, here are all the ACTUAL songs the band performed across all five shows:

Songs played all five times

For Whom the Bell TollsSeek & DestroyCreeping Death

Songs played four times

Am I Evil?Master of Puppets

Songs played thee times

Battery Fade to Black Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Whiplash One

Songs played twice

Ride the Lightning Motorbreath Blackened Harvester of Sorrow Last Caress Enter Sandman Sad But True The Unforgiven

Songs played once

…And Justice for All (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth Atlas, Rise! Damage, Inc. Fight Fire With Fire Fuel Halo on Fire Hardwired Holier Than Thou Eye of the Beholder Leper Messiah Moth Into Flame No Remorse Nothing Else Matters Now That We’re Dead Phantom Lord The Four Horsemen Through the Never Wherever I May Roam Justice Medley

As we stated earlier, we had to use the setlists from the Lubbock & Albuquerque shows to help with tallying our scores so these are estimated guesses. If you have any photographs, recordings, or firsthand recollections of Metallica’s 1985 and 1989 El Paso concerts, I’d love to hear from you!

It’s exciting to see which songs will be added, and seen again, after Metallica comes back next year on May 18. 2027.
