The Port of Corpus Christi announced Oct. 20 its nine-month tonnage period to begin the year is a record for the Port, with customers moving 162.7 million tons of commodities.

The volume has surpassed the previous record of 153.3 million tons set during the same period in 2025 by 6.1%, according to a news release from the Port.

In the third quarter alone, Port of Corpus Christi customers moved 52.4 million tons of commodities through the Corpus Christi Ship Channel according to the news release — a 3% increase from the same period in 2025.

The Port said the quarterly growth was led by liquefied natural gas (LNG), which increased 46.2% to 6.6 million tons compared with the same period according to the news release. Shipments of LNG rose 23.7% to 525,761 tons, according to the Port.

Other volume increases included:

Dry bulk commodities: 2.1 million tons, up 20.9%.

Other bulk liquids: 4.1 million tons, up 7.8%.

Refined products: 8.5 million tons, up 3.7%.

The quarterly increases were partially offset by declines in other cargo sectors according to the Port, areas such as breakbulk cargo, agricultural commodities and crude oil shipments.
