President Donald Trump spoke highly of a Fort Worth area high school football player at a rally in Lubbock on Tuesday.
That athlete is Carson Campbell, a sophomore three-star offensive lineman at Fort Worth All Saints. He has 20 Division I offers and is the son of Cody Campbell, the chairman of the Board of Regents of the Texas Tech University System and the co-founder and co-CEO of Double Eagle Energy Holdings.
“Cody Campbell and his beautiful son,” Trump said, addressing them as the crowd cheered. “Get that son standing up. And Cody [Campbell] was a great player and his son looks like he’s going to be. He’s going to be bigger than you, your son is going to be. He’s an offensive lineman and a very highly touted one.”
Carson Campbell has a 6-foot-3, 290-pound frame. Rivals, a recruiting service, ranks him as the No. 10 class of 2029 offensive lineman nationwide and No. 1 in Texas.
With All Saints, Carson Campbell has a huge opportunity ahead. The Saints (8-2, 4-0 District 1 Division II) are vying for three consecutive TAPPS Division II state championships.
Carson Campbell is one of many standout recruits on the Saints’ roster.
Standout four-star class of 2029 tight end Noah Tarrant, arguably the top tight end nationwide in the sophomore class, transferred in from El Paso ahead of the season, while his cousin, three-star running back Brayden Boults, transferred in from South Carolina.
All Saints will not play Friday, as it has a bye week ahead of the TAPPS playoffs.
Cody Campbell, a member of Trump’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, also spoke at the rally.
