SAN ANTONIO – She’s just 13 years old, she’s from right here in San Antonio, and she’s already making waves in Hollywood! From dancing to her breakout role in Jurassic World Rebirth, Audrina Miranda is a star on the rise.
Audrina talked about her role in the upcoming reboot of the film ‘13 Going on 30,’ which was shot in Los Angeles.
“So with this film, we actually shot it in LA, so that was really fun. And the director, Brett Haley, he was an amazing director and he was just such a down-to-earth person and such a cool guy to work with. But there’s not too much I can say about my role, but you’ll have to tune in to see it. There’s new characters in this one,” Miranda said.
Miranda first found her love for performing through dance at an early age.
“I loved the stage and I did dance recitals, dance competitions and I just, I loved doing all the entertainment of it. And so we moved to California and I started acting lessons and I found my acting talent agent and just kind of all went from there. Then I started doing auditions for movies and commercials and I did that for about four years to finally get into this audition for Jurassic World: Rebirth and then I booked it,” she said.
Securing a role in Jurassic World: Rebirth was a milestone.
“I was so excited. So I didn’t think I got it at first because I did the audition and then they waited a month to tell me. So at that point I was like, ah, it’s okay, I’ll get the next one. But no, I was so excited and they’re like, we need you out of the country, are you ready for it? Told my dad, told my mom, told all my family in Texas. They were so excited for me.”
She described what it was like filming with dinosaurs on set.
According to Miranda, “So it’s CGI. CGI, right. Yes and also we had some puppeteers on set, so that was really cool. It’s these, all these adults that are in like dinosaur costumes walking like if they were actual dinosaurs and they had like longer legs and they had prosthetic heads. It was, it helped me get into the scaredness of it.”
While back in San Antonio, Miranda visited local middle schools during Red Ribbon Week, an effort led by the DEA to encourage healthy choices.
“So the DEA invited me out to speak a little bit on what it is to get healthy, be, be in like the right space with people and I’m really excited to talk to these schools,” she said.
