Participants will gather at Estacado High School and walk approximately one mile along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to United Supermarket on Parkway Drive, where registered voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots.

This one-mile walk represents far more than the distance between two locations.

It symbolizes the fifty-four miles traveled by thousands of courageous Americans who marched from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, demanding equal voting rights. Their determination, sacrifice, and unwavering faith changed the course of our nation and helped secure one of our most precious freedoms—the right to vote.

While we cannot retrace every mile they walked, we can honor their legacy by walking together as one community. Every step we take is a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were earned through extraordinary courage and sacrifice.

This event is especially dedicated to our youth.

Many young people have grown up with the freedom to vote as something they have always known. This march offers them an opportunity to experience, even in a small way, the spirit of those who came before them. As they walk beside parents, grandparents, educators, veterans, clergy, and community leaders, they will witness history come alive—not through a textbook, but through the footsteps of a united community.

Walk to the Polls is a celebration of democracy, unity, and hope.

It is not about political parties or candidates.

It is about remembering that every citizen deserves a voice.

It is about teaching our children that democracy depends not only on rights, but also on participation.

It is about showing future generations that when a community walks together, it moves forward together.

The NAACP welcomes people of every race, ethnicity, faith, neighborhood, and political background to join this historic community event. Whether this is your first election or your fiftieth, your presence sends a powerful message to the next generation—that freedom is worth protecting and that every vote matters.

As we walk down Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, let us remember those who walked before us in Selma. Let us honor their courage by exercising the rights they fought so hard to secure.

One mile may seem short.

But history has shown that even one mile, when walked with purpose, can inspire a lifetime of civic engagement.

Join us. Walk with purpose. Vote with pride. Honor the past. Inspire the future.
