TGIF! (And my birthday!)

When I think of Halloween, my SpongeBob costume and my underwater-themed birthday cake that I brought to my kindergarten Halloween class party come to mind.

While my favorite costume has long been retired, make sure to wear yours this weekend.

If your costume is woven with elegant, rich fabric of a noble or the chain mail of a Renaissance period knight — head downtown for the first Shakespeare Live RenFest.

Alongside the Renaissance-inspired festivities, there will be vendors, food trucks and live entertainment like sword fighting.

After RenFest, make sure you stay to watch a live adult production of the classic tragedy of “Macbeth.”

If you’re looking for a “monster mash” this weekend, the Entertainment District will be holding two Halloween dance parties this weekend.

If you’re into reggaeton, head to Texas Live! for the Gasolina Halloween Party for a night of Latin music, costumes and a high-energy atmosphere.

Texas Live! will also be hosting their bigger Dance of the Dead the next night for those who want to keep the party going. This event will feature dance battles, six themed venues and costume contests with $5,000 in prizes — looks like I need to dig up that SpongeBob costume.

This weekend is also your last chance to visit several recurring Halloween attractions, like the Six Flags Fright Fest, Chosen One Ink’s free haunted house and Pumpkin Nights at Howell Farms. Make sure to check out the full roundup of those Halloween event staples in Arlington and across the county.

For Día de los Muertos celebrations in Arlington and across Tarrant County, check out this roundup.

Whatever you decide to do, let us know what you’re up to. Have a great weekend, and see you next week!
