Group says information revealed a “John Braun” and the “Republican Woman’s Caucus Fund” are behind the transgender-related brochures sent to mailboxes across the state

HOUSTON – After remaining a mystery for several weeks since they started showing up in Texas mailboxes, we now know who is allegedly behind the fake transgender-related brochures that showed up at people’s homes.
The brochures sparked controversy across the state. The mailer, addressed to children in the household, claimed to be from something called the “Texas Transgender Student Union” and included resource information that some parents say crosses a line. It repeatedly referenced the Transgender Education Network of Texas — known as TENT — and included links to the organization’s resources.
But TENT said it had absolutely nothing to do with it and since the mailers started circulating, TENT says it has been flooded with hate messages and threats through social media and email.
The group requested a hearing for a Rule 202 petition filing, seeking to uncover who was responsible for the brochures. After a judge granted the group’s request, the group says it has learned the name of the individual and group allegedly behind the brochures and text message campaign.
According to TENT, information released reveals an individual by the name “John Braun” as well as the group “Republican Women Caucus Fund” are tied to the brochures.
It is unclear who John Braun is exactly at this time.
