Can you really get Erewhon in Dallas? Sure you can!
Desiree Gutierrez
Last year, Dallas got a little too excited when Erewhon posted a confusing “a taste of Erewhon” Instagram post that made us believe the bougie California grocer was opening a store here. It wasn’t. The underwhelming announcement was about shipping. Womp womp. Over the summer, we made a pilgrimage to the smoothie motherland to see what all the fuss was about.
The upscale grocer has 14 stores, most in Los Angeles County. We stopped at its West Hollywood location, where we had our eyes star-crossed by the Erewhon Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie, aka the Hailey Bieber smoothie. At $21, it’s one of the brand’s most sought-after celebrity collaborations and a punch to the wallet by Texas standards. In California, that’s just the price you pay for beauty.
As we sipped the strawberry-banana smoothie, we felt the spirit of the nepo baby take over. But we also couldn’t help thinking: We can get this at home. Here are seven Dallas shops that give the Erewhon Tonic Bar a run for its money.
CNTRD Juice
2424 Victory Park Lane, Dallas
Founded by former NFL player Valerian Ume-Ezeoke and his wife Veronica, CNTRD Juice first sprouted as a means of healing. The grab-and-go Victory Park shop serves 24-ounce smoothies with zero refined sugars, made with ingredients that support Black farmers. Smoothies like THE ELEVATE contain electrolytes, clear protein and bee pollen for a hydrating drink intended to support muscle recovery and provide clean energy. The picture-ready Flourish smoothie is a celebrity magnet in its own right, attracting the likes of life improvement guru Mel Robbins.

Beaming
Multiple Locations
Beaming is located inside Club Studio fitness clubs in Coppell and Richardson. While it’s a gym amenity, it’s also open to all serving smoothies, bowls, energy-infused drinks and shroom lattes. The Strawberry Shortcake smoothie has all the Mrs. Bieber energy and packs 20 grams of protein. The Daydreamer is a tried-and-true favorite with almond butter, chewy bites of dates, vanilla, cinnamon and blue spirulina.
Grain & Berry
Multiple locations
Grain & Berry, a superfood kitchen, has been fueling the health-conscious since 2017, with four locations in the area. The newest location is at The Marketplace at Highland Village and locally owned. The smoothies don’t come with picturesque swirls made for the gram, but they do come in coffee, tropical, nutty and fruity flavors. The Superfood Bowls come loaded with a rainbow of toppings that will feed that phone-eats-first craving.
The GEM
Multiple locations
Locals Mary Kathryn Bass and Leslie Needleman opened The GEM 14 years ago, following Needleman’s breast cancer journey. Now with three locations, The GEM serves made-to-order juices, wellness shots, nourishing bites and organic smoothies. The Gold Standard puts those sugar-bomb smoothies to shame with a stacked combination of protein, creatine, collagen, miracle mushroom powder and trace minerals.
Vida Bowls
10325 Garland Road
Accessibility and vitality are at the core of VIDA Bowls’ mission. Owner Elijah Ruiz founded the drive-thru acaí bowl shop in memory of his late father, who had diabetes, with a goal of providing healthy options for all. The namesake bowls are vibrantly layered with fruits, nuts, granola, and even Nutella drizzle. There’s four smoothie options, but the VIDA Glow is a glow-up from the inside out, with sea moss gel and collagen.
JuiceLand
Multiple locations
Founded in Austin, JuiceLand has 10 DFW locations. The menu centers on a plant-based diet, with signature smoothies, protein smoothies, green smoothies, bowls and juices. Smoothies are an abstract canvas, with a colorful array of fruits, vegetables, yogurt and protein. The Green Creamsicle uses housemade almond milk and features a blue chia swirl. It gets its green hue from spinach but tastes like a creamsicle thanks to the orange, mango and banana.
Bondi Bowls
Multiple locations
Bondi Bowls brings a sip of Australia to Dallas, with two local locations. The brand was inspired by founder Bailey Wilson’s time living in Bondi Beach, Australia. It began with clean acaí bowls like those Wilson fed her father during a downturn in his health. The menu now includes 11 good-for-you smoothies designed to help meet your nutritional goals. The Great Barrier Reef is infused with collagen and showcases an ocean-blue blend of coconut, spirulina, banana, pineapple, apple juice, with curls of camera-ready coconut cream.
