The community is invited to join the City of Arlington at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, at Rotary Dream Park in Downtown for a historic milestone event: the City of Arlington’s 150th Anniversary Signature Tree Planting and Time Capsule Ceremony.

This special gathering will celebrate both the city’s rich roots and its promising future. The Sesquicentennial Tree Planting at Dream Park caps off a yearlong, citywide effort honoring Arlington’s 150 years, which averaged 150 new trees a month through community giveaways, new plantings and replacement trees, all planted during optimal times for long-term health. The 95-gallon Chinquapin Oak will be planted on the west side of Rotary Dream Park, one of the gateways to Downtown and near where Arlington got its start along the rail line in 1876, on Texas Arbor Day.

In addition to the tree planting, officials and community members will dedicate and install a special time capsule. Packed with items donated by numerous local organizations, the time capsule captures the diverse people, places, and experiences that define Arlington in 2026. The capsule is set to be opened in 2126, when Arlington celebrates its 250th anniversary.

Made possible with generous support from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, these projects ensure a lasting green legacy and a preserved snapshot of history for generations to come.
