Fort Worth has landed a $1.3 billion project expected to bring more than 600 jobs to town for a semiconductor chip testing plant.

Chipmaker Nvidia supplier Aeternz Semiconductor Testing Corp., a Texas-based subsidiary of King Yuan Electronics Co., will build the company’s first manufacturing plant in the United States in south Fort Worth.

The plant will be at 273 W. Everman Parkway in south Fort Worth. The project would be the largest investment in that Interstate 35W corridor, according to a presentation given to council members.

Robert Allen, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, announced the deal during the group’s annual meeting on Oct. 29.

Fort Worth offered Aeternz a 10-year tax abatement on 65% of city taxes on real and business personal property, in exchange for investing at least $1.3 billion in building the plant and creating at least 630 full-time jobs by the end of 2031, with a minimum average annual salary of $80,000, and attempt to hire Fort Worth residents for at least 30% of those jobs. The company agreed to those terms, a spokesperson for the city confirmed on Oct. 30.

Fort Worth City Council members approved offering the company the tax deal on Oct. 27.
