Nate Garcia can be seen above enjoying time with his father, Louis Garcia.
“He was such a pure, loving and beautiful soul,” said Louis Garcia, Nate Garcia’s father.
Last night, the 16-year-old was shot on Bayhead Drive while at his mom’s house. His father, who lives elsewhere, rushed to the scene.
“I knew it right as soon as I walked up to the yellow tape. I just felt it,” said Garcia.
Police say Nate was shot in the upper body around 10 p.m. Friday and died shortly after.
He left behind his family and the memories they made together, like when they took a helicopter flight over San Antonio.
“It was just the way that he was seen, the way that his face lit up,” said Garcia.
But his death also left his family with questions. His shooter is still at large, and neighbors are confused as to why the 16-year-old was killed on their otherwise quiet street.
“My son, my baby boy. Why? I want answers. I want it, and I’m gonna get it,” said Garcia.
We are working with SAPD to get answers. If you would like to donate to the family, you can do so here.
