Police say the baby’s father went to the apartment to drop off diapers before arguing with the infant’s 19-year-old mother
A 19-year-old woman’s mother was fatally shot and her infant critically wounded during an argument in an apartment on Willow Chase Boulevard after the infant’s father arrived to drop off diapers, police said. (OnScene, Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)
HOUSTON – A woman was killed and an infant was critically injured in a shooting Saturday night at an apartment in the 7700 block of Willow Chase Boulevard, according to Houston police.
The infant’s father went to the apartment to deliver diapers and got into an argument with the 19-year-old mother, police said. He then pulled out a gun and shot the woman’s mother, about 40, in the back before shooting the baby in the abdomen.
Police said the 19-year-old carried the infant outside. She was not hurt.
Officers responded to the call around 7:35 p.m. and found the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. Officers performed CPR on the woman and applied a chest seal before Houston Fire Department crews took her and the infant to a hospital.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. As of early Sunday morning, police said the infant was still listed in critical condition.
The identities of the victims and suspect have not been released by police.
