LHHS
If you’ve got kids at Lake Highlands High School, perhaps you are already supporting students and staff. If you are one of the vibrant young families moving into our neighborhood, or if, like me, your children have already graduated, you may feel less connected. Courtesy of LHHS PTA leaders, here are a few ways to uplift Wildcats living among us:
The Wildcat Den provides needy students with toiletries, undergarments, socks, snacks, backpacks, school supplies and coats. You may purchase and donate items using this easy Amazon link.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, you may donate frozen turkeys to hardworking LHHS custodians and kitchen staff. Volunteers will collect turkeys Nov. 20 and 21 from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. in the school’s front circle drive.
Many LHHS students are bright and college ready, but before earning college credit for their Advanced Placement coursework, they must sit for AP exams. Students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch pay a reduced fee of just $39 per AP test — but this amount, too, is a barrier for many. Choosing between that and dinner for the family is no choice at all for large numbers. LHHS PTA is hoping to raise $12K to bring the fee down to $10 per test. You may donate here.
