Apparently, Austin-based smoothie purveyor JuiceLand thinks San Antonio’s juice is worth the squeeze.

The company, which has more than 50 brightly hued locations spread across Austin, Dallas and Houston, will open its first SA outlet next summer at 5300 Broadway in Alamo Heights, a state regulatory filing shows.

JuiceLand, which made its debut in 2011, is known for vegan items including not just smoothies but matcha, wellness shots and plant-based wraps. Founder Matt Shook got his start working at a shop called Juice Joint near Barton Springs, which inspired him to open the first JuiceLand, according to the company’s website.

JuiceLand is dropping around $200,000 to develop its 1,150-square-foot San Antonio shop, filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicate.

Company officials were unavailable by press time to comment on whether more Alamo City locations are in the works.

Workers will break ground on the Alamo Heights store in February and wrap up construction in June of next year, according to state records.
