Class of 2024 Austin, TX
If you can afford the cost of attendance then yes.
Affordable tuition for a top university. Will say that the cost of living is very high since it is located in downtown Austin. If you are very confident in what you want to study for the next four years, go to UT. If you are unsure, it is important to know that it is very hard to transfer majors. More specifically if you are going in for liberal arts (or undecalared) and want to transfer to Crockell, McCombs, or Moody (Advertising or even Film), it’s going to be a fight for a spot. Once you hit 60 hours, you are pretty much lock into your degree unless you are willing to start over or transfer to a different university. Housing is great if you can afford the dorms or off campus housing. Plenty of options and the dining halls are fine. If you stay in the dorm you get an extra 300 dollars in BEVO cash and 100 in dining dollars (unless it change). Most people blow it in the first month on Starbucks but you can stretch it for the semester easily with budgeting. With the bevo bucks you can eat at Plunckers, In and Out and other restuarants near campus. Or use it to buy supplies. The average rent during 2020-2024 was about 1200-1400 for a private room and bathroom. It is recommended to look for housing for the following school year during fall semester. Earlier you start the more options and affordable options you have. The futher the walk to campus, the cheaper rent is. If you want low rent, many students commute from Riverside by car or bus. It is important to note that their is a small Target on campus and a bus near Moody that will take you to HEB. Bus passes are free with UT ID. Career wise, if you are interested in tech, business, entrepreneurship, journalism, or film, the school is located in very convenient spot. There are many conferences, festivals, and tech giants down the street from campus (ex: Google, Ocale). There is also UTNY, UTLA, and a D.C. Fellowship. Most people take that to fulfill an internship credit.
