SAPD: Two officers shot while responding to call at West Side motel, suspected shooter dead, officers recovering

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Two San Antonio police officers are recovering after they were shot at a West Side motel.

Police Chief William McManus says it started at around 8:30 this morning with a 9-1-1 call from someone saying they were being taunted in the parking lot.

Two officers and a cadet were the first to arrive to the motel at Highway 90 and West Military.

They encountered a man who told the officers that he was not going back to jail, then started shooting.

The officers returned fire, striking the man who died at the scene.

His name hasn’t been released.

The officers who were shot have been hospitalized and Chief McManus says they are going to be okay.
