A Cuban immigrant accused of beheading his co-worker at a Dallas motel has been indicted on a Capital Murder charge.
Yordanis Cobos‑MartÃnez was formally indicted by a Dallas County grand jury in the Sept. 10 beheading of his co-worker, Chandra “Bob” Nagamallaiah, according to WFAA. The victim had lived in San Antonio before moving to Dallas in 2021 to work at the motel, relatives say.
The two men had been working at the Downtown Suites Dallas when Nagamallaiah, 50, asked Cobos-MartÃnez not to use a broken washing machine. Tensions between the two then escalated after Nagamallaiah asked a female co-worker to translate his instructions to Cobos-MartÃnez rather than speaking directly to him.

Security camera footage captured Cobos-MartÃnez leaving the room, then returning with a machete and attacking Nagamallaiah as he attempted to flee toward the motel office. Nagamallaiah’s wife and their 18-year-old son were also at the motel.
According to an affidavit, Cobos-MartÃnez continued the attack until Nagamallaiah was decapitated. Cobos-MartÃnez then allegedly kicked the severed head “like a soccer ball,” picked it up and disposed of it in a dumpster.
Cobos-MartÃnez is being held in the Dallas County Jail with an immigration detainer filed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He is a Cuban national, previously in ICE custody but released Jan. 13 because Cuba refused repatriation due to his criminal history, according 13 News Now.
