Texas volleyball wrapped up its regular season Sunday with a 3-1 win over South Carolina at Moody Center.
Now, the real work begins for a team with national championship expectations.
Torrey Stafford hammered a match-high 25 kills to lead No. 4 Texas to a 25-16, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21 win over the Gamecocks that secured third place in the SEC standings. Ella Swindle (25 assists) and Rella Binney (20 assists) shared setting duties for the Longhorns, and middle blockers Ayden Ames and Taylor Harvey had four blocks apiece.
Texas (21-2, 13-2 SEC) , which has now recorded 21 consecutive seasons under head coach Jerritt Elliott, will enter next week’s SEC Tournament in Savannah, Ga., as the No. 3 seed behind conference champion Kentucky and second-place Texas A&M. The Longhorns earn two tournament byes as a top-four seed and will face either Missouri, LSU or Ole Miss Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. CT in a quarterfinal contest.
