Austin smoothie chain JuiceLand is planning to open its first Alamo City location by next summer.

The company already has 52 locations: 36 in Austin, eight in Dallas and eight in Houston.

JuiceLand is investing about $200,000 to build its juice joint at 5300 Broadway in Alamo Heights, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The chain grew from founder Matt Shook’s 2001 visit to a juice bar near Barton Springs. Intrigued, he took a part-time summer job, an experience that laid the foundation for JuiceLand.

The chain’s plant-based menu is filled with creations all made with almond milk. Customers have the option of best-seller staple items like the Originator — a combination of apple, almondmilk, banana, blueberry, cherry, peanut butter and spirulina with a choice of protein — or seasonal offerings like a pumpkin spice smoothie, complete with banana, carrot, pecan, coconut oil, vanilla and pumpkin spice.

JuiceLand also offers raw cold-pressed juice, superfood lattes, wellness shots, as well as food options like acai bowls, salads and wraps.

Construction on the San Antonio store is to begin in February, according to the state filing, with the goal of completion by June.
