EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Baked Bear has been added to the list of El Paso businesses that are closing this year.

The Baked Bear recently said in a statement that it will be closing its doors after serving the El Paso community for seven years.

The ice cream shop said in a statement that closing was a difficult decision, but it was made after “careful consideration of our business operations and long-term plans.”

The owners of Malolam Cantina also announced on Saturday, Nov. 15, that it will be closing its doors after serving the community for 11 years.

The cantina, located at 5001 N Mesa St., was a popular bar spot for locals and served brunch, “El Bruncho”, every Sunday. It featured an outdoor patio and hosted many bands and live entertainment acts.

Toastique is another business that recently announced its closure, after the owner, Leonard Daye, said that he was recently informed of some health issues that require his immediate attention.

Matteo’s Authentic Mexican Food also recently announced its closing of all four of its locations in El Paso, Las Cruces, and Alamogordo.

“This is a decision that was neither planned nor easy to make. We are deeply grateful for the love and support we’ve received from our wonderful communities in Las Cruces, El Paso, and Alamogordo. We truly hope that, in the future, we can regroup and return stronger than ever.”
