LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Temperatures were above normal across the South Plains on Monday, continuing the trend of the last couple of weeks. However, the weather pattern could bring cooler temperatures and increasing rain chances this week and early next week.

Afternoon temperatures were in the mid-70s to low 80s across the area today and will remain in that range tomorrow before temperatures begin to decrease Wednesday. Daytime highs will be in the mid-60s Thursday and will continue cooling through the coming weekend.
An upper-level storm system and associated cooler air will move into the South Plains by late Tuesday and continue to impact the area through late Friday night. A second chance of rain will return from late Sunday into early next week for all West Texas.
