Arlington, TX – The Arlington City Council is meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 18th) to discuss reinstating their anti-discrimination law, which includes protections for discrimination and the usual category protections for race and religion, but it also includes highly controversial LGBT special protections – the LGBT language was the main reason the city suspended the entire ordinance in September of this year out of fear of losing $65 million in federal funding from the Trump Administration which is threatening to withhold federal tax dollars from local governments with DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) and other leftists Woke ideology in local laws.
The city council initially suspended Arlington’s anti-discrimination ordinance entirely for fear that language within the ordinance would be out of compliance with federal directives on diversity, equity, and inclusion and would put the city in jeopardy of losing millions in federal dollars. The suspended ordinance includes definitions of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” which conflict with current federal law and new states laws like the “What is a Woman” law in Texas.
City Council members will meet tomorrow, November 18 at 6:30pm to vote on reinstating the ordinance in a way that does not risk the City’s federal funding.
We need your help! Call Arlington Mayor Jim Ross and city council members and encourage them to:
Remove the words “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” from the anti-disrcrminance ordinance, if they choose to reinstate the ordinance.
If the council members choose to reinstate the entire ordinace without removing the LGBT language, the City should find another way to stop any DEI and/or Woke ideology and stay in compliance with state and federal law to avoid tax penalties and loss of possibly $65 million dollars in funding.
