LUBBOCK, Texas — Eighteen-year-old Kayden Guerra, was arrested on early Sunday morning for aggravated assault after a shooting in South Lubbock, according to court documents.

According to an affidavit obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Monday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call Saturday for a possible shots fired call in the 3500 block of 102nd Street at 10:59 p.m. Court records said Guerra claimed he was being threatened by the victim, his father, prior to his arrival at the residence. Court records said Guerra then shot once out of the front door with his mother’s handgun.

According to court records, Guerra claimed he fired the shot in the direction of the brick on the front of the residence. However, court records said the victim was struck by the bullet. The victim was then transported to Covenant, where he was treated and required surgical intervention, according to the affidavit.

Guerra was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center on a bond totaling $150,000.
