MOSS BLUFF, La. (KPLC) – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance regarding a burglary at Sam Houston Jones State Park involving two suspects.
Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent says deputies were dispatched to the park after receiving a call about an SUV being burglarized on Oct. 5, around 6 p.m.
Deputies say the windows of the SUV had been busted out and that the victim’s property had been stolen from inside, then disposed of near the park exit.
Multiple witnesses and Louisiana State Park Rangers were interviewed regarding the incident, which allowed detectives to determine that there were two suspects and identify a possible vehicle used by them.
Detectives with the CPSO Vehicle Crimes Investigative Unit were able to learn that the SUV used by the suspects was registered to a rental company out of Florida, which then allowed them to identify Eric J. Mallard, Jr., 36, of Florida, as the person who rented the vehicle and as one of the suspects.
