In a list of the Top 100 Restaurants in America for 2025 compiled from 10 million reviews on OpenTable, just one eatery in Dallas-Fort Worth made the cut.

Mister Charles, the flashy French and Italian restaurant on Dallas’ Knox Street that was recently lauded by Michelin for its “exceptional cocktails,” was the only North Texas spot to make OpenTable’s 2025 list.

OpenTable is an online reservation booking system. Data for the Top 100 list was collected between Sept. 1, 2024, and Aug. 31, 2025.

Mister Charles has been open since 2023 and inhabits a historic property that once housed the 106-year-old Highland Park Soda Fountain. This high-fashion restaurant from Dallas company Duro Hospitality serves “an irreverent play on the classics,” as the menu states.

Customers stop in for single bites that range from $5 to $14 and include a fancy chicken nugget with caviar and a tiny lobster roll. Entrees at Mister Charles include whole Dover sole with lobster beurre blanc and several maximalist steak options like Wagyu short rib Wellington, New York strip with sauce au poivre and a porcini-rubbed rib-eye with bordelaise.

OpenTable’s list of 100 restaurants does not rank favorites, so it isn’t clear where Mister Charles stacked up against the competition. But, in the state of Texas, there’s a clear city winner: Of the 10 Texas restaurants, eight are in Austin. Dallas got one entry, with Mister Charles. Houston got one, with BCN Taste & Tradition.

Wow, that’s tough love for Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, the two largest metro areas in the state.

Austin restaurants honored include J Carver’s Oyster Bar and Chophouse, Jeffrey’s, Red Ash Italia, Sammie’s Italian and Suerte.

Finishing out the Austin list are three restaurants with ties to Dallas. Clark’s Oyster Bar, which started in Austin, is expected to expand to Dallas in 2026. Mediterranean restaurant Aba is also expected to launch in D-FW in next year. And, Uchi — one of Texas’ best-known Japanese restaurants that started in Austin — has been in Dallas since 2015.

OpenTable reports its most sought-after dining city is Chicago, which nabbed 16 out of the 100 spots. No other cities in Illinois had an entry in the Top 100.

The next-highest city is New York, with 11 out of 100. Austin’s not far behind, with eight.

Interestingly, a report on the Top 100 notes many of the restaurants on the list seat 75 people or fewer. In a survey, OpenTable reports that “48% of Americans find cozy/local charm as the most appealing restaurant interior style in 2026.” Perhaps that’s a trend we’ll see more of in the coming years.
