On the cloudy morning of November 2nd, 2025, the Dixon Circle community celebrated the installation of brand new neighborhood street sign toppers. The toppers were designed by Dixon Circle residents and feature a circle emblem at the top reading “Dixon Strong Forever”. The intimate ceremony was hosted at Dixon Circle Missionary Baptist Church. The Lincoln HS Drum Line kicked it off with a performance that shook the neighborhood, followed by a heartfelt introduction Ms. Pam Henderson.

“-we are visibly recognized as Dixon Circle in the City of Dallas.”

-Shanda Brown, Vice President of Dixon Circle Neighborhood Association

Spearheaded by the Dixon Circle Neighborhood Association, residents started out by raising money to cover the cost of the signs, which included unique street toppers, and crime watch signs. The rest of the process was completed through a successful collaboration with the City Manager’s Office, the City of Dallas Department of Transportation and Public Works. The signs were installed on October 16th after months of anticipation.

Awards were presented to the Dixon Circle natives who played an instrumental role in raising the funds to make the new signs possible. Attorney Calvin D Johnson, State Trooper Germaine Gaspard, and entrepreneur Carlton Dixon were honored for their generosity and ongoing commitment to the Dixon Circle neighborhood. Each honoree’s acceptance speech was a testimony to the talent and innovation that the tiny neighborhood has contributed to Dallas history. Calvin Johnson, a Lincoln High School graduate himself, took a moment to address the youth; “Just because you came out of Dixon Circle in South Dallas does not mean you can’t make it. I want y’all to get focused.”

A big red ribbon was cut at the corner of Dixon Avenue and Borquin Street followed by dancing and refreshments. Just as the band strolled away to their last number, the light drizzle quickly turned to rain and prematurely ended the festivities.
