The South Dallas Community Food Center, organized by the S.M. Wright Foundation, provides free groceries, meals, clothing and other resources to low-income and homeless families and individuals every week.
The Food Center provides hot meals, groceries and a food truck program every Thursday starting at about 9:30 a.m., according to the S.M. Wright Foundation website.
Those interested can register in-person at the Food Center at 3119 Pine Street, Building I.
As of 2023, the Food Center had distributed over 8 million pounds of food, helping more than 3,000 families per month, according the website.

The annual Thanksgiving event will be on Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will provide hot meals, groceries and clothing to low-income and homeless individuals.
The Thanksgiving groceries will include a full turkey.
The S.M. Wright Foundation, founded in 1998, focuses on creating a supportive and stable community by distributing resources to underprivileged communities.
The foundation includes other community centers such as South Dallas Community Clothing and Resource Center and Beds for Kids Center of North Texas, among others, according to the website.
The foundation’s 27th annual Christmas in the Park at Fair Park event will be held on Dec. 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Christmas in the Park includes access to toys, shoes, clothing, meals and household items. The event has grown from serving less than 200 underprivileged individuals in 1988 to over 32,000 in 2022, according to the website.
