One of Texas’ most historic and beloved hotels is undergoing a multi-million-dollar revamp to revitalize its existing restaurant and add a new bar to its saloon-style mix.
The Stockyards Hotel in Fort Worth dates back to 1907, an oasis for all things “Old West” and a stomping ground for past and present cowboys and cattle barons, country music stars, outlaws and visitors alike. A member of the National Register of Historic Places, the Stockyards Hotel features 42 rooms and 10 suites and has been frequented by Garth Brooks, George Strait, Nolan Ryan, Willie Nelson and Tim McGraw.

Now, the hotel is gearing up for a yearlong revitalization project, set to kick off on January 1, 2026. The Stockyards Hotel has teed up a $1.5 million alteration project to add a new front canopy to the hotel as well as a new outdoor bar and seating area. That project, covering approximately 3,100 square feet of renovations, is tentatively scheduled to wrap work at the end of 2026, according to a project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
It’s not the only change underway within the Historic Stockyard District. H3 Ranch Restaurant, a steakhouse located at the Stockyards Hotel, is gearing up for a $1.6 million restaurant overhaul next year. That project, estimated to begin on January 1 and wrap in late June 2026, calls for an interior demolition and remodel of H3 Ranch Restaurant and the adjacent Booger Red’s Saloon, according to a TDLR project filing. That 7,1540-square-foot project will encompass new kitchen equipment, lighting, mechanical, plumbing and electrical upgrades within the restaurant.
