Texas Tech was issued two 15-yard penalties throughout the duration of the game. According to the letter to the Big 12, the second penalty was issued “in response to KU’s claims on the sideline that a pocketknife was thrown into the KU bench.”
The first penalty was because of Texas Tech fans continuing to throw objects/tortillas onto the playing surface after its traditional opening kickoff throw and warnings.
On Wednesday, both teams were fined $25,000. Texas Tech received a public reprimand and the fine for throwing objects onto the field.
Kansas was fined for “an inaccurate statement regarding a pocketknife” by Leipold.
