Rain chances are on the increase for what appears to be most of Texas as a front moves through the state. Besides rain, some parts of the state may see hail and heavy downpours which could result in flooding. Here’s what we know about the weather the next two days.
Rain and Cooler Temperatures Coming To Texas
A front is expected to pass through Texas on Wednesday, most likely in the later afternoon or evening and continuing overnight into Thursday. According to NOAA, the following areas are under a “Marginal Risk”.
Lubbock, Plainview, Midland, Fort Stockton, San Angelo, Abilene, Childress, Wichita Falls, Paris, Texarkana, and Longview. That’s a large area of the state and obviously not everyone will see severe weather, but it’s possible.
Flooding Rain and Hail in Texas
The two biggest threats of severe weather will be flooding rain and hail on Wednesday and into Thursday.
Lubbock Rain Chances
For our part of West Texas, expect rain and occasional thunderstorms. Rain chances will continue into Thursday. We will also see cooler temperatures with highs in the mid 70’s on Wednesday and mid 60’s to low 70’s.
