Damone Clark is leaving Dallas, but is still staying in Texas.

Just one day after the Cowboys waived him, Clark was claimed on waivers by the Houston Texans on Wednesday afternoon. Clark, a 2022 fifth-round pick, will get a fresh start in Houston under DeMeco Ryans.

In four years with the Cowboys, Clark appeared in 49 games and made 26 starts. His best season came in 2023 when he started all 17 games for Dallas and racked up 109 tackles, but he only made four total starts in the 2024-25 seasons before the Cowboys moved on from him this week. So far this season, Clark has 14 tackles in eight games.

“I told him your career is just getting started,” Dallas coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Tuesday. “Sometimes change is good. I really believe that.”

Additionally, the Cowboys signed offensive lineman Nick Leverett to their practice squad on Wednesday after releasing OL Wesley French on Tuesday. Leverett went undrafted in the 2020 NFL draft and began his career as an undrafted free agent with Tampa Bay, where he spent the first four seasons of his career. He also spent time over the last two seasons with New England and Arizona. The Cardinals released Leverett on Nov. 5 and he now lands with Dallas a couple of weeks later.

In his career, Leverett has appeared in 22 games and made 11 starts.
