While the Dallas Cowboys have struggled on the defensive side early in the 2025 season, Dak Prescott and the offense are keeping pace with the NFL’s best.
Six games into the season, the Prescott-led group ranks first in offensive yards per game and sits in the top five in scoring offense. So, how good has Dallas’ offense been this year?
Below, we’ll compare the 2025 group with some of the best in the franchise’s history:

Cowboys
Through six games, the Cowboys have the NFL’s third-best scoring offense with 178 points scored. Only Indianapolis (194) and Detroit (191) have scored more points than Dallas in 2025.
Could the Cowboys finish the season as the league’s top scoring offense? The club has led the league in that category six times (1966, 1968, 1971, 1978, 1980 and 2021) throughout the franchise’s history.
Here’s a look at how those teams compare to the 2025 squad through six games:

The Cowboys lead the league with 2,325 offensive yards. They’ve led the league in that stat category eight times in franchise history (1966, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1974, 1977, 2019 and 2021).

According to multiple pundits, Prescott is playing at an MVP level early in 2025. He has played a key role in Dallas’ offensive success, ranking second in the league with 13 touchdown passes.
If Prescott keeps up at this pace, he could find himself as the league leader in passing touchdowns by season’s end. A Cowboys quarterback has only accomplished that feat twice. Prescott led the league with 36 touchdown passes in 2023, while Roger Staubach led the NFL with 23 touchdown passes in 1973.

Prescott isn’t the only Cowboys standout making his mark. Running back Javonte Williams is having a breakout campaign and currently sits at fourth among the league’s rushing yards leaders.
A Cowboys running back has led the league in rushing yards seven times in franchise history. Here’s how Williams’ yardage total compares to players like Emmitt Smith, Ezekiel Elliott and DeMarco Murray:

The Cowboys dealt with an early blow at wide receiver when CeeDee Lamb went down with a high ankle sprain. In his absence, George Pickens stepped up as Prescott’s top target.
Through six games, Pickens ranks third in the NFL with 525 receiving yards. A Cowboys receiver has led the league in receiving yards twice in the franchise’s history (Drew Pearson in 1977 and Michael Irvin in 1991).
