There’s something creepy returning to the Christmas season in Lubbock.
There’s always been something unsettling about winter. Maybe it’s the long nights, the quiet stillness, or the way the cold makes everything feel a little more isolated. Add in the strange legends — Santa Claus, elves, flying creatures, shadowy helpers, and other “magical” beings — and suddenly Christmas isn’t just festive. It’s creepy. And that’s exactly why Nightmare On 19th Street in Lubbock is bringing back Nightmare Before Xmas.
This December marks only the second time the park has opened during the holiday season, and the crew is going all-in. All four major attractions — BloodMoon Manor, KarnEvil, Castle Dominus, and Mr. Ratty’s Pizza-Playhouse — will be decked out with twisted Christmas themes. Picture Christmas lights strung where they shouldn’t be, warped holiday decorations, glowing trees, and a special soundtrack that blends cheer with chills. In a unique twist, we’ll also be bringing in guest scare-actors from The Blackness in Plainview.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Nightmare without characters who push things over the edge. Guests will encounter ghastly elves, a fully unhinged and deeply Sinister Santa, and the towering eight-foot menace himself — Krampus. Photo ops will include the stunning “Winter Wings” mural painted by local artist Lukky Rodriguez, giving guests a perfect mix of beauty and dread. And even though it’s too early to forecast December weather, crisp winter nights are practically made for wandering a spooky scream park.
Nightmare On 19th Street is currently celebrating its 19th Year of Fear and was recently named #4 Best Walk-Through by Hauntmaster General. It’s a distinction the whole team is proud of — and they’re ready to show Lubbock something unforgettable.
